So why does Alan call Toyah the punk priestess?

It’s probably because I wrote her bios for many years introducing her as The High Priestess Of Punk.

Alan and I have been best friends since 1996, and we lived together in a student flat in 2002-3. It was here that Alan started to work with me on the Toyah website and we spent many an evening creating new pages and sending out what we used to call e-flyers.

But our core work on Toyah music releases really started after her stint on I’m A Celebrity… in 2003. After she left the jungle, labels were very interested in putting out her music. And a terribly-designed Very Best Of CD led Toyah to insist that we look after all design from then on.

And we have been – at least in some small way – involved in almost all music releases since then. I tend to curate a lot of the content and imagery and Alan (more recently the whole ASDNE team) do the creative work.

Most significantly, we’ve worked with Cherry Red Records and Demon Music Group since 2018 on major reissues programmes. You can read all about that here, up to 2023 when it was written.

We have also worked on Toyah’s last two studio albums, and three studio albums with her band The Humans.
